- Research cooperation(FANEA)
- The KREI conducted a meeting, advancing research interchange with foreign countries, to establish the Forum for Agricultural Policy Research in North East Asia(FANEA), with the Institute of Agricultural Economics, Policy Research Institute MAFF (PRIMAFF) in Japan, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IAED/CAAS), for research cooperation.
Mission
- Exchange of journals, publications and information.
- Establishment of a homepage for the research forum and its operation to promote a personal network of contacts and to provide access to database information.
- Arrange relevant meetings and seminars to promote joint research (the three institutes take turns hosting seminars more than once a year).
- Identifying new projects in area of mutual interest and joint study (e.g.)Research on Comparative Studies on the Agricultural Competitiveness of the Northeast Asian Countries.

Forum for Agricultural Policy Research in North East Asia(FANEA)
In March 2003, The KREI founded FANEA with PRIMAFF and IAED/ CAAS. The three institutes cooperate in studying various issues including agricultural policy and economics, structure, agri- environment, agricultural trade in North East Asia. As part of the research cooperation, the institutes have taken turns holding annual international symposiums since 2003. Each year, the institutes report their outputs and discuss under particular subjects regarding agriculture and agricultural policies in northeast Asia. The 1st, 4th 7th and 10th symposiums were held in Korea.
