KREI hosts the Global ODA Forum for Sustainable Agricultural Development - Participated by nine international agencies and eight partner countries, held online for social distancing - KREI hosted the 2020 Global ODA Forum for Sustainable Agricultural Development for two days on November 9 –10, 2020. The Forum was held online for social distancing under the topic of “the international community’s agricultural partnerships in response to COVID-19.” Participants projected post-pandemic changes in international partnerships for agricultural development and sought measures responding to COVID-19’s impacts on emerging countries. Its two-day sessions covered food security and smart farming on Day 1 and animal disease control and agricultural value chains on Day 2. The Forum was participated by nine international organizations, namely the FAO, the IFAD, the WFP, IRRI, the ILRI, the UNDP, the GGGI, the WB, and UN-HABITAT. Government officials of ODA partners, representatives of MAFRA and its associated organizations, and related experts also took part in discussions. In a special session prepared for Day 1, KREI presented the state of ODA agricultural projects for eight New Southern and New Northern Countries (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines, Mongolia, and Armenia). After the presentation, it held discussions on improvement measures, potential project needs, and future partnership plans. Also, on November 9, KREI signed memorandums of understanding with the GGGI and IRRI. The Institute will build cooperation platforms with the GGGI for climate change responses and green growth. It will collaborate with IRRI for joint research, agricultural policy, and market analysis/ impact assessment in areas of rural poverty eradication, climate change responses, and food and nutrition security. |
